What are we supposed to do on sundays !!

God , when he started this 7 days concept , he started it with a Sunday!
It was supposed to be the first day of the week and a day of rest .... and he intended us to chill and get ready for a bad working week ahead ....

What did god intend us to do on Sundays?
  • Read comics
  • Watch lots of TV
  • Clean that messy cupboard so that you find your clothes for the next week
  • Stare into space
  • Drink minty tea
  • Catch up with all the gossip
  • Go out to eat chats
  • Sleep
  • Eat something interesting
  • Go to your fave store and see if you can pick up anything
  • Look t the sparse garden you have and admire the flowers which seem to be blooming
  • Radiooooooooooooooooooo
  • Clean your room and look at it sparkle
What god did not intend us to do on a Sunday?
  • Work [You've a whole week for that]
  • Think about important things [usually useless like investments, the fact that we have no money]
  • Be bored
  • Do things you don't really want to do
Sigh !!!

How is Married Life ?

The strangest question you get to hear after you are married for a month is "How is married life ?"
How on earth are you supposed to answer that question??

Are you supposed to say -
a. I miss my mom too much
b. I cant seem to sync up to the routine in the new house
c. I am still getting used to the food
d. Yes am gloriously happy [which should be taken with a pinch of salt :P]
e. If you don't know what to say just shut up

I remember asking newly married girls that , how is married life , now i know the hesitation ... and the thought behind the "O, its OK" or "O, it is great" ....

Anyways the another crazy question is "How was your honeymoon?" Again, how are you supposed to answer that ? The question is accompanied by a sly smile .. my only thought is "Are you serious ? "

Now are you supposed to say
a. Brilliant , i saw stars of all the galaxies ;)
b. Great I had never been to a 7 star resort , now I can cross that off of my list of things to do
c. I was too busy trying to get used to the feeling that am married
d. Again, are you serious ?? Can you expect me to bare my soul to you?

These are the regular questions you get after your wedding ........ these are questions with no answers. I have learnt to just shrug my shoulders and say it was OK , to soften the flow , smile.

Wedding Blues ................

Wedding Countdown has well and truly begun ....
Everyone asks me how do i feel ??

Well first of all I think that all the wedding excitement and the anticipation is over rated ... what is the point I don't know the ritual or the mantra really means .... i just have to follow instructions ... I have no say in anything ... All those rituals have no legal stake ... so again why are we wasting time and enormous amount of money ....
Secondly I have to leave my parents my house my entire existence and trade it in for something unknown ... am not too sure of that ... its very scary .... i ask you this why cant the husband and wife both move out ?? that way the scales are balanced ... both of them start out afresh ........ equal scare in both the places ..... :)
The entire marriage thing .. the scales are not balanced at all I tell you .... everything is in the boy's favor .... nothing in the girl's favor ...
The good things am looking forward to are the facts that I'll be with the person i want to be for the rest of my life :) ... even if it comes at a price ...
The other good thing is that you have a travel partner now ... yey yey ... :) ... i can go travelling all the time ... love it ... am looking forward for our trip after the wedding ....
I have someone to pamper and be pampered for a long time :) ....
I have my own punching bag ... exclusive .
THe best part I have someone to share the important moments with ...
So I think am lucky .. :)

There are advantages v/s the disadvantages .. sigh a part of life me thinks ...

Musing aloud ........

I have always always noticed this .... when people start working , they never stop thinking about college and school ... all their talk revolves around the people they knew and miss ...
Its almost like they'll never meet the same people or make the same friends....
I think it is true in a way ... we never develop the same bonds as before ...
The draw in school friends is that we all have made the same mistakes , some small some big :) ...
Shared the heart aches .... shared the tensions ...... and all the time thinking that we'll be together ... always having the same fun forever . Only when we graduate the great dirty world begins to intrude ... :(
People at work do not get that close ... we are older wiser and more experienced .. the experience lends a suspision ....... a suspision which makes us hold back ...... the same bond never builds again....
The irony is that you make friends at work and always think that you can never be that close to them ... as you compare your old friends with them ... the ghost lingers ...... but what we all seem to forget is that we'll always end up making the same bonds with them without knowing as we share a slice of our lives with them :) .... and still think that we can never get close to anyone anymore :) ...
Ironical .......

Restlessness !!

Restlessness (as per my definition) is a state of mind where you feel that you are brimming with 'mental potential energy' but you cant do a damn thing about it. :(

There comes a point in every one's lives (not trying to sound pompous here) , but heck i hate the job shackles here and i wanna 'Break Free' do something useful , meaningful with my life .

Meaningful useful would include - hitchhiking across Europe , learning to make wicked sinful pastries , learning salsa ,enroll into a meditation course in Dharmasala , get into an Arts course ... Anything except this boring job .... mannnnn

Wasting time :( inevitable but sucks ....I wish i can shut down my prudent side for a while and do what I really want to do...

Anyone else get that feeling of being totally restless ....................

I Remember ...

I remember a Summer day ...
I remember the warmth of sunshine , late afternoon ...
I remember the warm breeze on the terrace ...
I remember the smell of spicy cooking in the afternoons ...
I remember enjoying , eating melons and mangoes at the end of a meal ...
I remember my bright blue clips which held my hair ...
I remember the sand beneath my feet ...
I remember the cartoons which were played on Saturday mornings ...
I remember the "traffic watching" sessions ...
I remember playing house with a bunch of friends ...
I remember enjoying the shade of a tree during the harsh summer months...
I remember the salty air ....
I remember the color of the blooms ...
I remember the smell of the earth ...
I remember the arts and crafts classes ...
I remember the smell of old musty books ...
I remember those summers ......................................

Any Regrets ??

I have always thought of myself as a  progressive person. A person who does not look back and think if something could have been done differently....People always say that never look back and do not regret anything in life, what is done is done.. I wonder how they can think like that..
A few days ago I started thinking of this No Regret policy :)
I think it does not work , come on who are you kidding ?? There will always be something or a lot of  things which you will always regret and want to change .....
Most of these things will always be something to do with the people whom you have known ..... some who have treated you badly or some whom you have treated badly... There is always something which you could have changed, and something you would not have said or done ...
Some crucial life changing decision which you would not have taken if you had the chance to wait it out .....
What a complex piece of time and space balance we live in .... sometimes i feel like running to a mad mad scientist and asking him about the time machine he promised to the world so that I can avoid the mistakes and the hurt ....
Any takers ?? ..................

Summer Time !!

When I was travelling today, to office .. I felt that the weather had changed ... Summer has come .. yey yey!!
I remember the time when there was a lot of excitement , Summer was approaching :) .... Holidays !!
Three months of doing nothing... three months of being idle and free .. free as a bird ...
Miss all those days all those days lounging like a lizard in the burning sun, all those painting and craft classes , books and those long walks and the cool water in the swimming pools ... yum!! Ice creams, lemonades :).... sandege and pickle making :) yummy !! All you can eat pani puris taste much better in the heat :)
Sitting on the warm terrace after the sun has set ... :) so much fun ....

Usually holidays were planned , granny's place ( in mangalore btw) ...... summer were really hot there but as a treat we went to the beach ...... :) fun!!
All those "terus"(an entire village festival) where all the tattiraya's (huge mannequins dressed as yakshagana artists) danced with a huge chariots decked up with bits of colorful paper and flowers :) , huli kunitha artists everywhere ... miss all that :(

There is something magical about the heat ... its warm and cacoony :) the smells and the sounds are different in summer... There are not a lot of people who like the heat , I love it .... and i miss all those wonderful golden days !!

I love the summer :) whoohooo :)

People to thank

Here is a list of people whom we don't even think of thanking for the service they do to the society as a whole. We don't spare a thought for those people who make our lives easier and we tend to frown upon them because of the work they do... obviously we "Dignity of Labor" has not yet caught up in India (Don't think it ever will , anyways)

1. Traffic Police : They are corrupt agreed ... but they do manage to keep the traffic flowing and make sure that it is a reasonably OK to travel in the city .O come on .. Bangalore was not supposed to be such a huge city with so many vehicles ... Boom !! people decide to come and settle here from all over the country and decide to buy a number of vehicles ... it is not the police's problem . For the meager amount they are paid , with all the pollution they have to deal with , I think they are doing a reasonably good job.

2. Road Sweepers : I remember the time when Bangalore did not have any sweepers who come in early in the morning and sweep the roads and clean the pavement. O I do .. we had gotten the tag of the 'Garbage City' .. A group of men and women , wearing their green coats come and sweep and tidy the public areas so that Bangalore stays reasonably clean .

3. Garbage Collectors: Without these people Bangalore will be this perfect 'Garbage City' :) .... we frown at the smell , give dirty looks to those people who come to collect the garbage and to the truck which stink up to high heaven . But think of the people who do this job to keep our city clean . They earn a mere pittance and we treat them shabby.

4. Our Maids: Without they good ladies a large number of households Will stop functioning. Just imagine our busy lives without these people. We certainly cannot do every household chore by ourselves and go to work . It is true that people abroad do everything by themselves , but o no we cannot do it. Now these women are demanding their rights and huge amounts of money , but it is their right.

This is just a small list but just think about a number of people like IT Housekeeping staff who look after all our needs so that we just work and leave ... we really need to appreciate these people a little more and respect the good work they do ...

Moral science lesson complete :P
